Come Follow Me for Teens: "Let Everything That Hath Breath Praise the Lord" (Psalms 102-150)

This week’s Come Follow Me for Teens episode finishes our study of Psalms with Psalms 102–150 and the theme “Let Every Thing That Hath Breath Praise the Lord.”

Across these final psalms, we explore three truths about seeing Jesus Christ more clearly, finding light when life becomes difficult, and learning what it really means to praise God.

We begin in Psalms 110 and 118 with passages written centuries before the Savior’s mortal ministry that Jesus Christ and His Apostles later connected directly to Him.

Psalm 118 declares:

“The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.”

Jesus Christ later applied this prophecy to Himself. The One many rejected became the Savior and Redeemer upon whom God’s entire plan depends.

We explore how the Old Testament continually points toward Jesus Christ through prophecy, symbolism, ordinances, covenants, temples, and stories of deliverance. That leads to an important question for our own scripture study:

“What does this teach me about Jesus Christ?”

The more we learn to look for Him, the more we begin to recognize that He has been at the center of God’s plan all along.

We then return to Psalm 119:105:

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

This time we go deeper into what the image of a lamp can teach us when the road itself becomes difficult.
