Geoffrey Watson SC Fires Back at the High Court Critics and Exposes Grey Corruption | Court of Public Opinion
Geoffrey Watson SC of the Centre for Public Integrity joins Jeremy Cordeaux AM to respond to claims that the High Court overreached in its Hunter Valley Operations mine decision. He argues the 111-page judgment is conventional administrative law about bureaucrats obeying the statute, and that it has been misunderstood and manipulated in the media.
Geoffrey also explains the difference between brown paper bag corruption and grey corruption, the invitation-only grants scheme his organisation exposed, Professor Anne Twomey's evidence to a parliamentary inquiry, and the bright line rules he says would stop ministers spending public money for political gain. Dr John Bruni joins in from the dining room table.
This interview aired live on The Court of Public Opinion on Friday 9 October 2026.
