What is Malfoid..? The VIRAL Harry Potter Trend Explained

Malfoid...?

Now, before we get started I’ll just quickly acknowledge that this one’s a bit outside of my normal wheelhouse. However, the demand has been undeniable in the comments.

Now, to be clear, I hadn’t even heard of this ‘Malfoid’ concept until it started popping up in my comment section. I’m not on TikTok because I just can’t have that app and all of the time it steals from me on my phone.

But the cole’s notes are this: it’s a WHAT IF viral fanfic where Harry’s nemesis Malfoy is a GIRL instead of a BOY. Now, I’ve gotta say that at first glance this doesn’t really feel like it would be that significant. The fandom seems to be doing this kind of thing all the time. BUT, according to what people are saying online, it actually makes for a better story- and there appears to be some rationale behind that.

Which is why today I’m going to be unpacking this fanfic and trying to make some sense of it all. Is this just another internet fad or..Could there actually be something here?
