The Titanic was supposed to be unsinkable. On the night of 14 April 1912, everything changed.

In Part 2 of our Titanic series, Killers, Cults & Queens takes you inside the final hours of RMS Titanic — from the moment the iceberg was spotted to the devastating decisions that followed.

Why were Titanic's lifeboats launched half empty? What did "women and children first" actually mean? Why did some passengers refuse to leave the ship? And how did so many people remain trapped on board as Titanic sank into the freezing Atlantic?

As the ship takes on water, panic slowly spreads across the decks. Lifeboats disappear into the darkness, third-class passengers struggle to reach the upper decks, and Titanic begins her terrifying final descent.

We'll follow the disaster minute by minute, including the iceberg collision, the evacuation, the lifeboats, the band playing as the ship sank, the treatment of third-class passengers, Titanic breaking apart and the final moments before the wreck disappeared beneath the Atlantic.

This is the second part of our Titanic series. Watch Part 1 first for the story of how Titanic was built, why she was considered unsinkable and what happened during her maiden voyage.

⚠️ This episode contains discussions of death, disaster and mass casualty.
