Metrolinx Introducing Body Cam, Writing Notes or Notes on Phone, What Does it Mean and Canada Post Moving to End Home Delivery

This week on Next Take Podcast, Canada’s own Mikel and Tanyka break down a mix of Canadian news and everyday debate. They discuss Metrolinx introducing body cameras, weigh the pros and cons of writing notes by hand versus using a phone, and examine Canada Post’s move toward ending home delivery.

Metrolinx is bringing body-worn cameras to frontline transit staff across the GO Transit and UP Express network, marking a new approach to safety and accountability on Ontario’s transit system. The cameras can capture audio and video during certain safety, investigative and fare-enforcement interactions. Metrolinx says the technology is designed to provide a clearer record of incidents while promoting transparency and protecting both passengers and employees. (via Source City News Toronto)

In a world where our phones are almost always within reach, is it better to type an important thought into your phone—or reach for a pen and write it down? Research comparing paper notebooks with smartphones and tablets suggests that traditional note-taking may offer advantages for how we process and remember information. But digital notes have their own strengths, including convenience, organization, searchability, and having your notes available almost anywhere. (via Source: Frontiers)

Canada Post is moving ahead with a major transformation of how millions of Canadians receive their mail. The postal service plans to transition approximately four million addresses from traditional door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes over the next several years. But what does this change actually mean for Canadians? We break down why Canada Post is making the move, when communities could see their delivery change, how community mailboxes will work, and what accommodations may be available for people who have difficulty accessing their mail.
