The Appalachian Basin is entering a pivotal new phase driven by power generation demands — including from data centers for artificial intelligence. The call on natural gas is surging and generating growth for the region for the first time in years. At the same time, however, infrastructure bottlenecks continue to create regional basis discounts and are preventing abundant natural gas from reaching the Northeast and reducing volatile prices there.
