OM Backroads, Halloween Edition: Ep.124.The Beast, the Bend, and the Cave

Hello and Welcome to another episode of Ohio Mysteries Backroads.

What lurks in the shadows of Ohio’s backroads, forgotten cemeteries, and hidden corners of history? Join us as we uncover the Buckeye State’s most chilling legends, mysterious sightings, and enduring folklore.

Decades may pass, but the truth never loses its voice. Ohio Mysteries Backroads takes a deep, immersive dive into some of the Ohio’s most lingering cold cases—stories where justice was stalled, lives were shattered, and questions still haunt the communities left behind.

First, we travel back to the summer of 1972 in Defiance, Ohio, where a wave of panic gripped a small town following multiple terrified eyewitness accounts of a bipedal, blue-jeans-wearing cryptid known as the Defiance Werewolf. Next, we navigate the terrifying traffic history of Cleveland’s Dead Man’s Curve on I-90—a notorious, near 90-degree highway transition that has challenged drivers, sparked urban legends, and claimed wreckage since 1962. Finally, we step back in time to the Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls to visit Mary Campbell’s Cave (historically called "Old Maid's Kitchen"), uncovering the chilling history of a young pioneer captive whose spirit is said to still linger near the sandstone walls.
