Cemetery Roses: The Forgotten History of America’s Heritage Roses with Connie Hilker

What secrets are blooming in America’s historic cemeteries? On this episode of the Rose Chat Podcast, Teresa Byington sits down with Connie Hilker, a self-confessed history geek and passionate researcher of historic roses.

Connie has spent years uncovering the stories behind cemetery roses, the old and often forgotten roses planted in cemeteries, churchyards, family burial grounds, and historic landscapes. But what exactly is a cemetery rose? Who planted these roses, why did they survive for generations, and what can they tell us about the people and places that came before us?

Together, Teresa and Connie explore the fascinating world of historic roses, heritage roses, old garden roses, and rose preservation, revealing why these living pieces of history deserve our attention today.

If you love roses, gardening, history, antique roses, or discovering the stories hidden in old landscapes, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.
