Lindsey Clancy almost walked on insanity. The pink shirts came out. The panels came out. Then Oprah put a doctor on and the room full of sad-faced women started cheering.

The pitch was not subtle. Have the same passion for women who don’t look like Lindsay. Who don’t have her access, her education, her melanin, her privilege. There are women of color in prison for the same thing and you’ve never heard their names. Give them the pink shirts too.

Clay translated it in real time: Black women should get to kill their babies and not go to jail either.

That is the whole argument. Not “fix postpartum care.” Not “the healthcare system failed.” Equity in getting away with it. If the white nurse almost skated, the next woman of color deserves the same off-ramp.

Shaun’s point cuts cleaner than the cheering: child sexual abuse is real and evil. It still doesn’t give James Hutto a license to murder old women. Bad things happen to people. That is not a coupon for homicide.

Clay’s line is the same one he’s used on Clancy from day one. Sane people don’t do this. Crazy people who do it still belong in a prison, not a ward with better lighting. Charles Manson wasn’t running a therapy group. Once the kids are dead, the excuse rotation — postpartum, the meds, the doctor — is just three ways to say it wasn’t her fault.

One guest said the quiet part on a nationally famous couch. The audience clapped. That is the standard they want.
