על כל ענין בתורה נאמר "אסתכל באורייתא וברא עלמא" – שתורה פועלת על כל העולם, עאכו"כ כשלומדים בתורה את הענין של "בראשית ברא אלקים וגו'", שתוכנו – התחלת כל המציאות כולה. וע"י שיהודי מתקשר עם התורה הוא נעשה בעה"ב על כל העולם, כמובן גם מפרש"י על "בראשית" – בשביל התורה שנקראת ראשית ובשביל ישראל שנקראו ראשית – שע"י שיהודי מתקשר עם "בראשית" – תורה, נעשה גם הוא בעה"ב על כל העולם (בשבילי נברא העולם) – "את השמים ואת הארץ". ועפי"ז יובן יותר פתגם הרביים ש"אַזויווי מ'שטעלט זיך אַוועק ש"פ בראשית אַזוי גייט דאָס דערנאָך דעם גאַנצן יאָר", וזה זמן מתאים לקבלת החלטות טובות על כל השנה כולה!

Synopsis

Torah affects the entire world (as it says, “He looked into the Torah and created the world”) especially when one studies the beginning of the Torah, “In the beginning of G-d’s creation…,” which represents the beginning of all existence. When a Jew connects himself to Torah, he becomes master over the entire world, as also understood from Rashi’s commentary on the word Bereishis – “for the sake of the Torah, which is called Reishis and for the sake of the Jewish people, who are called Reishis”: when a Jew connects himself to “Bereishis” (i..e, to Torah), he too becomes master over the entire world (“The world was created for my sake”) – “the heavens and the earth.” Accordingly, we can better understand the saying of the Rebbeim that the way one establishes himself on Shabbos Parashas Bereishis, that is how the entire year goes. Therefore, this is an appropriate time to undertake good resolutions for the entire year.
