WOW… This Could FORCE Arsenal To Change Their Plans

Arsenal suddenly have a fascinating right-back selection battle on their hands — and for Mikel Arteta, it's exactly the kind of problem you WANT to have. 🔴⚪

With Jurrien Timber returning from injury but Ben White playing some of his best football for a long time, who deserves to be Arsenal's starting right-back going forward?

In today's video, I take a closer look at Ben White vs Jurrien Timber, what both players offer Mikel Arteta tactically and why genuine competition for places could make this Arsenal team even stronger.

Ben White's relationship with Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard has previously produced some of Arsenal's best attacking football under Arteta. His overlapping runs, movement and understanding with Saka remain a massive weapon — but I also think White continues to be seriously underrated defensively.

Timber offers something different. His technical ability, versatility and comfort moving into midfield give Arsenal another dimension, which leaves Arteta with two outstanding options competing for one position.

And that's the bigger conversation: competition is raising Arsenal's level. We've already seen what increased competition and quality in midfield can do for individual performances. Could we now see exactly the same thing happen at right-back?

There were even Arsenal fans discussing whether Ben White should be sold during the summer transfer window. After what we're seeing now, does anybody still believe Arsenal should consider letting him go?

I also discuss one of Arteta's greatest strengths: the Arsenal system itself. Players can come in and out of this team without Arsenal completely losing their identity, control or quality — something very few elite teams can achieve.

Finally, we look ahead to the January transfer window. Does Arsenal actually NEED another signing? I'd love to see Junior Krüger at Arsenal, but unless a genuine game-changing player becomes available, is spending £40–50 million simply for the sake of adding another body really worth it?

If Arsenal had a Champions League final tomorrow and everybody was fully fit — who starts at right-back: Ben White or Jurrien Timber?
