Jackie Bonsignore & Paige Kimsey continue their first-time Friday the 13th marathon with Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood! This 1988 slasher introduces Tina Shepard, a young woman with telekinetic powers who accidentally frees Jason Voorhees from the bottom of Crystal Lake. Jackie & Paige react to Kane Hodder’s first performance as Jason, his decayed new design, the infamous sleeping-bag kill, Dr. Crews’ brutal death, Jason’s unmasked face, and the supernatural Tina-versus-Jason showdown!

Directed by special-effects artist John Carl Buechler (Troll, Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College), Friday the 13th Part VII stars Lar Park Lincoln as Tina Shepard (Knots Landing, House II: The Second Story), Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees (Hatchet, Jason X), Kevin Spirtas as Nick (Days of Our Lives, The Hills Have Eyes Part II), Terry Kiser as Dr. Crews (Weekend at Bernie’s, Tammy and the T-Rex), and Susan Blu as Amanda Shepard (Jem, The Transformers).

After the reaction, Jackie & Paige discuss Kane Hodder’s physical performance, John Carl Buechler’s practical effects, Tina’s “Jason versus Carrie” concept, the movie’s heavily censored kills, that bizarre lake ending, and how The New Blood compares with Jason Lives.
