Hour 2 (10.14)

7:05 — There was a stabbing near USC campus at the Metro station, which makes parents crazy with worry. The economy is suffering in Hollywood, with much filming production money moving out of state. There's been layoffs at the big movie studios, and the sound stages have gone quiet. So much so that to make a buck, they’re being rented out for things like weddings and parties. The decline has been driven by tax incentives in locations outside of California. Film production has been cut in half since 2019, with 50,000 jobs slashed in a decade and 80 small film and production companies shuttering. And the Dodgers are now down, with a 19% chance of winning this game. The Brewers are leading 4 to 2, but it’s still doable for the Dodgers.

7:20 — Bad news at Dodger Stadium, with the guys down to seven outs and Milwaukee up two points. After ticket price hikes, Metrolink is now cutting service starting November due to lower ridership and rising operation costs, which will greatly impact commuters. The train will be impacted, too, with services during the week reduced by around 29% and services on the weekend cut by 40%. What’s happening in LA? Have any politicians desperate for a vote addressed this?

7:35 — The latest SpaceX launch out of Cape Canaveral today produced a phenomenon known as “space jellyfish.” The Rams lost to the Bills, and they could lose a player, subject to review, following a post-game punch. Also, the Rams have released Harrison “Thiccer Kicker” Mevis after a missed field goal.

7:50 — Apple is launching HomeView to take on Amazon. What’s that? It’s a home hub powered by Siri AI that sits on a counter or is mounted on a wall. It recognizes your face and adapts to anyone who uses it, up to six people. Your data isn’t stored on the device, which it pulls from your iPhone. Prices start at $2.99 and compete with products like Ring and Nest. No need to fumble with your house key; when it senses you approaching your front door with your Apple watch or iPhone, it opens for you.
