Discernment Over Appearance

Today we’re in Genesis Chapter 13, and this chapter gives us a powerful lesson about trust, humility, appearances, and the danger of making decisions based only on what looks good in front of us. Abram and Lot had both been blessed, but their possessions had grown so much that the land could no longer support them together. Instead of fighting for the better portion, Abram gave Lot the first choice. Lot looked up and saw the Jordan Valley, green, fertile, and attractive, and he chose what looked best. Abram stayed behind and trusted God.
