Smoky Start and Travel Delays

It’s a smoky, hazy start across Sydney this morning, but clearer skies are on the way. The city is set for a sunny and mild afternoon, with the CBD warming from around 11°C to 21°C, Parramatta heading from 10°C to 23°C, and Bondi rising from 13°C to 20°C. Keep the sunnies handy by lunchtime, with a warmer feel expected into the early afternoon.

On the roads, Parramatta Road is causing delays in both directions. At Homebush, a three-vehicle crash near Potts Street has closed two eastbound lanes, with emergency services on scene. At Auburn, a car breakdown approaching Silverwater Road has closed one westbound lane, with crews and a tow truck attending. Drivers should allow extra travel time and take care when merging.

Public transport is heavily impacted by weekend trackwork, with replacement buses running across parts of the South Coast, T4, Cronulla, Macarthur–East Hills, Leppington–Liverpool, Blue Mountains, and Central Coast/Newcastle lines. Several services are operating to changed timetables, and some Sydney Trains services are reduced to 30-minute frequencies this morning.

Light rail passengers should also plan ahead, with L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford services limited due to a technical issue. Information displays and announcements are not operating, so check transport apps before heading out.
