EP150: I asked 40 women what happened after their miscarriage. 85% Got No Referral. - with Host Sharna Southan
85% of the women I surveyed left their miscarriage with no professional referral. I asked 40 women across six countries in late 2019, and I've been sitting on what they told me for far too long.
If you're in the early weeks of your own loss, this episode will help you understand why support has been so hard to find. If you're a doula, birth worker, coach or counsellor, it shows you exactly where the women you support are being missed, and where you fit.
In this episode:
What 40 women from Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, South Africa and the Netherlands told me about the weeks after their loss
Why the women saying "yes, absolutely" to support jumped from 47.5% to 70% once it was clearly explained
The Loss Care Gap, the space between appointments where nobody asks her how the pieces fit together
Why I started this work in 2017 with no clinical background, and the moment I stopped waiting to feel ready
