Episode 257: Exitium Sui
Today on the podcast I am joined by ES of the Australian, one man Black/Doom Metal band, Exitium Sui!
Exitium Sui breaks a 2-year silence with ground shattering blackened doom record “Unravelling”. Confronting the dark chasms of the human psyche, “Unravelling” negotiates liminal space between utter chaos, complete seclusion, and fathomless depravity. Equally as blackened as it is funeral doom, leaving no artistic stone unturned and no crevasse unexplored.
ES pushes the filth across the board while staying true to the doom moniker. The vocals are deeper, clearer, and more harrowing, the keyboards are less present, giving more room for snarling riffs and an unrelenting vocal performance. The result is a record that is less layered and more cut-throat, retaining the projects immense atmosphere but in a much more visceral approach.
With all music written, recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by ES alone, the record features guest vocals by Drew James Griffith and a re-recorded epic rendition of ‘Until the End Hath Found Us’ from the project's debut EP.
Exitium Sui has once again teamed up with Meuse Music Records to exceed expectations and challenge perceptions. Releasing September 4th worldwide, welcome the call to graves.
I will be going through the entire album with, talking about the recording process, the themes explored through the lyrics, the music video and of course, Black Metal.
